Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
Suzanne Funk, BMRPT
Known to her clients as the ‘Vagina Consultant’; Suzanne is passionate about pelvic floor physical therapy and the necessity for practitioners to be knowledgeable, comfortable and competent when assessing and treating all body parts but in particular, pelvic floor dysfunction. Suzanne continues to provide ‘regular’ physical therapy services, however, over the years; her area of special interest has been directed towards pelvic floor dysfunction for both males and females.
Suzanne graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1993 with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation in the Division of Physical Therapy. She opened her first physical therapy clinic in 1995; then Emerald Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation in 2009. She most recently joined the Maternity & Wellness on Victoria team in October, 2018 and has been exclusively providing service at this location since June, 2019. Suzanne’s strength lies in teaching and her ability to take complex subjects and teach them to patients and colleagues in a way that is understandable, relatable, and usable.
She was a guest lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan from 2005 – 2017, has presented 3 times at the Canadian Physical Therapy Association’s annual conference and is an active contributor of educational videos for patients and practitioners on the teaching website OBGYN Academy.
For more information see the Emerald Physiotherapy website here (www.emeraldphysio.ca).
